The animation industry has a specific and often underestimated environmental footprint. Render farms, digital infrastructure, long international production chains, distributed workflows, and the growing use of AI tools all contribute to an impact that differs significantly from live-action production. At the same time, the sector has historically lacked the standardized sustainability frameworks that now exist for film and TV.

This “Green Animation” course addresses this gap directly. It gives animation professionals the knowledge they need to understand the structural sources of their industry’s environmental impact, to prioritize the actions that matter most, and to build a realistic, effective sustainability strategy that does not compromise creative quality or production efficiency. The course draws on the data and recommendations of the international Green Animation Guide, and on expertise gathered from studios, producers, artists, and sustainability professionals across Europe and beyond.
